Dazos CRM delivers accountability and growth to power Freedom Recovery’s admissions

Freedom Recovery

According to its website, Columbus, Ohio-based Freedom Recovery assists with treatment, rehab and recovery from alcohol and drug addiction through a group setting, evidence-based curriculum, and a proven 12-step addiction recovery model. Freedom Recovery’s admissions and business development director says the organization’s mission is rooted in faith in God to help with the work of healing clients. Freedom Recovery also has locations in Dayton, Marysville, and Galion, Ohio.

“Typically, our summertime admissions decline, but with the Dazos CRM we’re growing exponentially,” says Amy Compher, director of admissions and business development for Freedom Recovery. “We just had a record-breaking month for admissions, 66 people; ordinarily that’s 45.”

Challenges

Amy Compher joined Freedom Recovery in July 2025 as director of admissions, eventually the organization promoted her to director for admissions and business development. When she began working for Freedom Recovery, Compher says admissions and business development lacked accountability, structure, and a repeatable process. While the Dazos CRM was already in place, the staff hadn’t taken full advantage of it.

For example, admissions handled follow-up reminders for prospects with sticky notes and notepads. There was no system for tracking the “hot list” of prospects, deals lost, or clients referred out to a higher level of care. This was partly because the organization wasn’t holding its referral partners accountable. And the organization wasn’t using Dazos CRM to track whether staff were following up with the clients Freedom Recovery sent to its referral partners.

Solution

Once Compher began directing admissions and business development, she worked with Dazos’ customer success manager to dig into what the system offered. Compher has been able to build out reporting across admissions, automate verification of benefits, and tighten up the process for working with clients and referral partners.

“If a referral partner says at the beginning of the week he gave me, maybe, 11 referrals, I can see in Dazos that there were only two, and I can challenge that,” adds Compher. “Dazos ensures reciprocity.”

For business development, Compher can track up to 40 KPIs such as the rate of opportunities to admissions. Freedom Recovery also uses Dazos CRM with the Kipu EMR system. When a prospect is admitted, the record converts from Dazos into Kipu. When the clinical director notifies the team that a client discharges, Freedom Recovery’s alumni coordinator uses the alumni relations features in Dazos to stay in touch with former clients.

Results

Admissions are up 51 percent year over year since taking full advantage of the Dazos CRM, says Compher. She also has greater visibility into what tools and strategies contribute to admission. If clients aren’t getting followed up with, the Dazos CRM displays that. The data in Dazos helps her collaborate with her admissions team, point out opportunities on the hot list, and remind them to change the sales stage for prospects.

“If somebody says they’re going to admit, and we push the chart to Kipu, but they don’t show up, we can adjust that and flag for follow-up,” says Compher. “That’s definitely paid off in increased admissions.”

Driving Record Admissions

  • Freedom Recovery admitted 66 people in July 2026 versus 45 in July 2025.
  • Average monthly admissions now range from 45 to 50, up from 22 to 25 in 2025.
  • The organization’s lead-to-admission rate is 47 percent.
  • Opportunity-to-admission rate is 53 percent.

Holding Referral Partners Accountable

  • With Dazos, Compher sees whether referral partners follow up with the clients Freedom Recovery sends, and whether the relationship is reciprocal.
  • Tracking the hot list, deals lost, and refer-outs to a higher level of care gives Compher visibility into when her team needs to follow up with prospects or partners.

Growing the Team

  • Freedom Recovery’s admissions team has grown from one employee to include four admissions reps.
  • The organization has also hired a coordinator who relies on Dazos to connect with alumni.

The upswing in admissions made possible by the Dazos CRM has led to more work for Compher and her admissions team. She will soon add two more admissions reps to manage the increasing number of clients coming for care at Freedom Recovery.
